Living in Laurel Park, NC

A Little Mountain Town With a Personality All Its Own

Just west of downtown Hendersonville sits Laurel Park, a small incorporated mountain town with a personality all its own.

It's wooded, established, sometimes steep, and filled with winding roads that lead to beautiful homes tucked into the mountainside.

Some properties offer spectacular long-range views, while others are nestled among mature trees in quiet, established neighborhoods.

And at the top of it all is one of my favorite local landmarks—Jump Off Rock.

But Laurel Park isn't for everyone. Living on a mountain means embracing the roads, the terrain and the reality that getting home isn't always a quick, straight drive.

For the right person, though, that's exactly what makes it special.

Jump Off Rock

A famous 3,000-foot geological scenic overlook offering sweeping panoramic vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest, steeped in local Cherokee folklore.

Life on the Mountain — Beautiful, But Not Always Convenient

An Established Mountain Community With a Lifestyle All Its Own

Laurel Park is one of those places where the journey home is part of the experience.

There's a main winding road that climbs the mountain toward Jump Off Rock, with smaller roads branching off into established neighborhoods and tucked-away homes.

Some properties offer spectacular long-range mountain views, while others sit among mature trees in quiet, older communities. You'll find substantial homes built decades ago, along with newer construction appearing on individual lots as the neighborhood gradually changes.

But here's what I always want buyers to understand: living on a mountain isn't the same as looking at one.

The winding roads, steep driveways and elevation changes become part of your everyday routine. A quick trip to the store may not feel so quick when you have to travel down the mountain and back up again.

For some people, that would get old in a hurry.

For others, coming home to the quiet, the trees and those incredible views makes every curve worthwhile.

Laurel Park isn't necessarily about convenience. It's about choosing a particular way of life—and loving it.

The Ecusta Trail: A New Chapter for Laurel Park

This is a long form text area designed for your content that you can fill up with as many words as your heart desires. You can write articles, long mission statements, company policies, executive profiles, company awards/distinctions, office locations, shareholder reports, whitepapers, media mentions and other pieces of content that don’t fit into a shorter, more succinct space.

Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.

Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.

Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.

Is Laurel Park the Right Fit for You?

Laurel Park is one of those communities you really need to experience before deciding whether it's right for you.

If you love mountain views, mature trees, established neighborhoods and homes with character, there's a lot to appreciate here.

But here's what I always tell buyers: You need to be comfortable with the mountain itself—not just the view from the top.

Steep roads, winding driveways, winter weather and property maintenance can all become part of everyday life.

Laurel Park is also evolving. Established homes are finding new owners, occasional new construction is appearing, and the Ecusta Trail is bringing new recreational opportunities to the base of the mountain.

If walkable shopping and restaurants are your priority, much of Laurel Park probably isn't your ideal location.

But if privacy, wooded surroundings and spectacular scenery appeal to you, Laurel Park may be worth exploring.

The question isn't whether Laurel Park is beautiful. It's whether the mountainside lifestyle fits the way YOU want to live.

That's what I want my buyers to understand before falling in love with a view.
